Our Bouquets

State-of-the-Art Technology
Ballakinnish Nurseries are situated in the heart of the beautiful Isle of Man and have long been established as growers of top quality roses. The roses are cultivated in 5 acres of state-of-the-art glasshouses and in recent years we have invested heavily in the technology required to grow our range of exquisitely coloured long lasting roses.

These beautiful roses are grown to a pre-set high quality specification.

Perfect All-round Growing Conditions
The roses are carefully grown in a hydroponics system. Each bush is planted in its container and then filled with coco peat, which we especially import from Sri Lanka. The hydroponics system is the very latest and most successful method used for growing roses. Each rose bush is individually linked to a master computer which in turn informs the feed computer exactly how much feed and water each plant requires.

Picked to be perfect. Ballakinnish roses are renowned for their colour, variety and quality. It is of prime concern that flowers arrive to our customers in the very best condition and those qualities are extended on to your customers. Because they are permanently in water from the nursery to your door, you will never receive flowers that are dry and will not open due to the fact that all our roses are fully conditioned for immediate use when they are delivered.

These are the sixteen varieties currently available In Ballakinnish Nurseries.

Of course, through the warm light summer months growth is rampant and natural but in order to maintain our pattern of high standard production from August through to April. we have installed Heavy Duty Sodium Lighting - a system that ensures the roses receive the exact sunshine and light levels to maintain excellent quality throughout the twelve months of the year.

Cold-Chain Delivery to the Florist and Wholesale Merchants
The crop is systematically picked during the cooler parts of the day then placed in water that has been treated by a laser beam to remove all bacteria. They are left in this water and pre-cooled in our in-house fridges then graded, wrapped and packed into aquapacks. A 'cold chain' is operated throughout the delivery process - temperature is maintained at a constant level while being transported in refrigerated vehicles to market destinations throughout the United Kingdom.

Flowers that last and last all our roses are treated from harvest until they are with the customer. Not only will you receive them in first class condition, but our new Crysal treatments which are conveniently attached to each individual bunch, will extend the vase life of the roses to approximately 14 days!
