African Violets

African violets (Saintpaulia ionantha) are one of the UK’s favourite houseplants and come is a variety of colours including pinks, purples, whites and occasionally yellow. They are a short and compact plant with attractive dark green, thick, hairy leaves. If well cared you can get enjoyment out of African Violets for a long time. Our top tips are as follows:

1. Place your African Violet in a light spot.
2. However, do not have it in direct sunlight.
3. Do not over water – only water when the soil is dry.
4. Water the surface of the soil.
5. Do not get the leaves wet as they can rot.
6. Do not place the pot in water.
7. Give a small amount of liquid plant food once a month.
